Ancient Greeks ate the stalks of the Laserwort and sheep ate the roots, which made their meat tender. Perfume was made from the blossoms while the sap was dried and added to food to make it stick together making it easier to eat horizontally. It was used medicinally and as an aphrodisiac and may have been the first effective birth control.
